Throwing Back this beautiful Thursday to one of my favourite family sessions to date! They aren't actually old, but I haven't had the opportunity to post them til now almost 2 months later... No time like the present. Shannon came in contact with me back in the winter for some Family Photos after seeing Holiday Session photos of Hanna + Ben, kidlets of her good friend Kate. Keeping in theme with capturing the ordinary day to day, I couldn't love these photos any more! I love that they chose to be in PJ's for this lazy morning session, these honest choices will ring louder and sweeter in a year's time (and year after year following...) as Baby Girl Astrid grows into a cuter buttercup. Like Joon + Callum's session, these photos will not just capture the early family love, but capture their first home together as a family before they move this summer.
Enjoy!
The Krasovecs
Took a break from my own crazy family life to photograph the sweetest beginning to another family's crazy life-to-be. The Lower Mainland is a small area, smaller than we think. Chelsea found me through a co-worker who just happens to be a very good friend of mine that I have photographed many times and whose sister I photographed last Fall with the arrival of their first baby, Bowen. It turns out Chelsea already knew me as we went to high school together! Of course, she remembers me as the Asian girl who made out with her boyfriend (and now husband) at the bus top ALL THE TIME, but now we have 3 kids so it's all good. Ha!
Sometimes I get caught up in the studio set up trend of modern day Anne Geddes photos. It's hard not to with the beautiful even lighting and the many props on hand, but I need to constantly remind myself that it isn't how I enjoy creating memories. I love capturing babies and families in their home, in the natural light that is part of their everyday environment, especially during these precious early days. I loved this session, and not just because it had great light in numerous rooms. It was great energy and I was over the moon to be holding a teensy tiny newborn all over again...
Welcome to the world, Pierce!
Thank you Chelsea and Aaron for a wonderful afternoon!
Can't wait to share the rest of these photos with you!

Wren Verona: 6 Months
Life has been quite the blur since the arrival of our Littlest O'Brien but it's also been a whirlwind of joy and gratitude for all the love that has been showered on us from friends and family. We've had an enormous amount of generosity in the form of meals (fresh and frozen), babysitting, cleaning + tidying, renovations, gifts and hands-me-downs and everything in between.
Our winter has been its usual mix of everything: grey rainy skies, frozen clear days of rolling blue sky, warmer overcast days, and occasionally a beautiful sunny day reminiscent of early Fall. We had a spoiled visit of cozy chicken soup and gluten free treats from my high school friend Ashley, and with the sun just pouring into our home, there was no amount of "tired" that could stop me from taking a few snaps of Little Wren and her balmy blue eyes.

Wren - 3 Months
I was blown away how much she had groans since her last visit which was only a few weeks ago when Ash and Nicole came to meet Feather for the first time. My heart went into panic mode realizing how different Feather will be in 5 months time and, after having two kids, knowing how fast those 5 months are going to pass. Feather will be sitting up, laughing, trying solids, rolling around and being a little menace with his rowdy older siblings.

How fast time is flying.
These little beauties are going to be rebel teenagers before we know it.

Love on The Bluff
There really are no words needed for this sweet little family session, though I will offer a little bit of background history:
I received a surprise email from Christy last week inquiring about family photos with her three handsome boys. The last time we saw one another was back in 2001 when we graduated from LFA! 13 years later, she has found herself in love with Sunny Tsawwassen and just happened to spot me in our local rag. 13 years later she looks as beautiful as she did back in high school with a beautiful family to match...
The most perfect little family!
Wren Verona
After all the editing and compiling the photos for this post together, I'm at a loss of where to begin with Little Miss Wren. I've known the Schmidt sisters since Grade 8. Like many other girls, we were shuffled against our will to attend Little Flower Academy, an all girls Catholic school. Yes. I'm one of THOSE girls… The girls that attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary were a tight crew and I was introduced to Ashley Schmidt via a number of her friends. I was intimidated by her height and how she loved to play pranks on her friends. Her sister, Nicole, 2 years older terrified me all through high school. Ashley and I have continued to be friends after all these years, growing much closer in the last few. It was only until Nicole gave birth to her first little guy, Rook, 3 years ago, that we began to hang out and I learned she was much less terrifying and a lot more hilarious.
I am so grateful to have such wonderful and loving friends in my life and I'll say it a million more times, I am so honoured to photograph their life milestones and growing families. It's so special to be able to see such a long time friend welcome their first baby into the world, to share that love and wonder with them, to see the features of a face you've known forever suddenly appear in a brand new miniature version, and to see their heart transform before your very eyes as they fall in love with this tiny little person.
It is insane the things first time mothers do during their last weeks of nesting, Ashley and Ivan handmade this beautiful bird mobile.
Beautiful Wren
I look forward to seeing you grow up
and to count the many ways you will be like your Mama.
